Background:

Plans, Specifications, and Estimate have been completed for the Facilities Driveway Capital Improvement Program Project CIP 24029. This Project includes the placement of a concrete driveway, sidewalk, concrete parking yard, storm drain system, and trench paving. The Project is located at 740 W. Center Street, the location map (Attachment 2) displays the project boundaries.

 

The Project will primarily improve the Facilities Maintenance onsite stormwater management. Improvements to the driveway and parking yard at Facilities Maintenance are ancillary to the improvements to onsite stormwater management.

 

In order to expedite the Project schedule and optimize expenditure of local funds, the Project plans, specifications and cost estimate, were prepared by city staff. 

 

On September 3, 2024, City Council authorized a Call for Bids and approved the Plans, Specifications, and Estimate, for this Project.

 

Five bids were received and opened on September 23, 2024:

Martin General Engineering, Inc.

$235,982.00

RF General Engineering, Inc.

The low bid was within the Engineer’s expected cost range.

 

Fiscal Impact:

 

The total construction contract with McFadden Construction is $219,115 and staff are requesting approval for additional project contingency of $80,885, for a total project not to exceed amount of $300,000.

 

There is sufficient funding in the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Capital Improvement Program Project Budget for the Facilities Driveway project CIP 24029.

 

There is not General Fund impact.
