Background:

The Safe Routes to School Project CIP No. 23006 (“Project”) is focused on improvements in the areas surrounding Manteca High School, Sierra High School, Golden West Elementary School, Shasta Elementary School, Stella Brockman Elementary School, and Brock Elliott Elementary School. The project includes the installation of enhanced pedestrian crossings, ADA-compliant curb ramps and sidewalks, a new pedestrian hybrid beacon, and a traffic signal. These improvements aim to enhance pedestrian access and ensure safer travel for students attending the six schools in Manteca.

On April 18, 2024, the City Council executed the professional services agreement C2024-63 with Sanderson Bellecci Company to provide professional services for engineering design and environmental services for the Safe Routes to School Pedestrian Safety Improvement CIP No. 23006 for a total not-to-exceed amount of $260,630.00, see Attachment 3.

On July 30, 2025, the City awarded the Project construction contract to George Reed, Inc. in the amount of $3,654,700.

On August 13, 2025, the City executed Amendment No. 1 to the professional services agreement C2024-63 with Sanderson Bellecci Company in the amount of $13,035.00, see Attachment 4. An additional $26,335 is needed for engineering services during construction to respond to questions and review submittals.
