Interview and appoint four applicants to the Manteca Youth Advisory Commission - three as regular members and one as an alternate member, with terms beginning immediately, and ending August 31, 2027; and direct the City Clerk to continue to solicit applications for the remaining vacancy.

Background:
COMPOSITION OF THE COMMISSION:
The Manteca Youth Advisory Commission (YAC) consists of twelve members and two alternate members. All members must be high school students (grades 9 through 12) currently enrolled in school, and must have a Manteca residence address. The Commission was created for the purpose of providing a youthful viewpoint on a multitude of community affairs. The Commission’s advice to the Mayor, City Council, and City Recreation Department Staff is advisory in nature.
NUMBER OF VACANCIES AND RECRUITMENT PROCESS:
On October 21, 2025 City Council appointed nine regular members to the commission. Currently, the Commission has three (3) regular member seat vacancies and two (2) alternate seat vacancies. The City Clerk’s Office has been recruiting using various methods, including the City’s website and social media.
APPLICATIONS RECEIVED:
We received four qualified applications from the following individuals:
• Mina Boghdady
• Arul Dharsan
• Raunak Mahar
• Samrath S. Mehroke
All applicants are high school students currently living and attending a high school within Manteca.
Staff recommend the following appointments to the Manteca Youth Advisory Commission:
• Mina Boghdady (10th grade), with a term ending August 31, 2027.
• Arul Dharsan (10th grade), with a term ending August 31, 2027.
• Raunak Mahar (10th grade), with a term ending August 31, 2027.
• Samrath S. Mehroke (10th grade), with a term ending August 31, 2027
City staff requests for City Council to appoint three regular members and one alternate member. The City Clerk will continue to solicit applications for the remaining vacancy - one alternate position
