Background:
Pursuant to Manteca Municipal Code Section 2.04.010, Meetings - Time and Place - Regular meetings of the city council shall be held on the first and third Tuesday of each month in the council chambers at 1001 W. Center Street, Manteca, California, at seven p.m.; provided, however, if the first and/or third Tuesday falls after a holiday, the City Manager (in conjunction with the City Clerk) may adjust and/or set the schedule to have the regular meeting take place on an alternate Tuesday that same month. Upon being notified that any Regular meeting will not be held, the City Clerk shall post a Notice of Cancellation of such meeting as soon as practicable.
In order to plan for the upcoming year’s meeting dates, a City Council adopted calendar with approved necessary or recommended meeting cancellations is recommended. Staff requests adoption of the calendar as presented or direction to staff as to the City Council’s desired revisions.
The 2026 Calendar reflects the following:
• Proposed dates for cancellation of Regular City Council Meetings:
o January 6, 2026 - Canceled
o May 5, 2026 - Canceled for One Voice
o May 19, 2026 - Canceled for ICSC
o July 7, 2026 - Canceled for Summer Recess
o July 21, 2026 - Canceled for Summer Recess
o August 4, 2026 - Canceled for National Night Out
o November 3, 2026 - Cancelled for Election Day
• Special Meeting City Council Meetings:
o February 19, 2026 - Goals & Priorities Workshop
o May 12, 2026 - City Council Special Meeting
o December 8, 2026 - Election Oathing Ceremony
• Holidays observed by the City of Manteca:
o January 1, 2026 - New Year’s Day
o January 19, 2026 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day
o February 16, 2026 - Presidents Day Observed City Holiday
o March 31, 2026 - Cesar Chavez Day Observed City Holiday
o May 25, 2026 - Memorial Day Observed City Holiday

• Friday office closures.
The Council can also call Special Meetings as needed throughout the year without affecting the City Council 2026 Calendar. Should Council need changes to the adopted City Council 2026 Calendar regarding Regular or Canceled meetings, the Calendar will be brought back to City Council for formal approval.
City Staff recommends the City Council approve the City Council 2026 Calendar as presented by staff.
