Adopt a resolution approving an agreement with the San Joaquin County Office of Education, dba Greater Valley Conservation Corps in an amount not-to-exceed $120,000 annually for the next three (3) years and total not-to-exceed compensation of $360,000 to perform weed abatement services at various City owned properties, Right of Ways, parcels and acquired properties.

body

Background:

The City currently owns several properties and areas within right-of-way that require weed abatement and general clean up services to mitigate potential fire hazards, risks and nuisances.  The City has been under contract with the Greater Valley Conservation Corps for these services since 2018 and has been satisfied with their services.  The current agreement expires June 30, 2025.

The proposed agreement would provide services to remove weeds, debris and other combustible vegetation from these existing City owned properties and areas.  Additionally, the City continues to acquire additional properties that require weed abatement services until the time they are sold or developed. At this time, there are currently 28 locations ranging in size from .25 of an acre to 16.5 acres.

Staff issued a Request for Quote (RFQ) for weed abatement services to the San Joaquin County Office of Education, dba Greater Valley Conservation Corps. The RFQ outlined the project requirements and scope of services required to complete the project. After evaluating past performance and meeting with the Greater Valley Conservation Corps, staff is recommending approval of a three (3) year agreement.

Fiscal Impact:

Funding for this agreement are budgeted in General Fund for the current fiscal year under the current agreement, and will be annually budgeted at $120,000 for the next three (3) years under the new agreement, for a total not-to-exceed compensation amount of $360,000 in Professional Services Weed Abatement Account.
