Ratification of Agreement Amendment with A-1 Remediation Service for Structural Repairs at the Qualex Building Located at 555 Industrial Park Drive |
Recommendation:
title
Ratify an amendment to the agreement with A-1 Remediation Service for structural repairs at the Qualex Building located at 555 Industrial Park Drive, utilizing previously approved funding for structural improvements, and authorizing the City Manager or designee to execute the amendment and all associated documents.
body
Background:
On August 18, 2026, City Council approved agreements for roof replacement, environmental remediation, and potential structural repairs at the Qualex Building located at 555 Industrial Park Drive. The approval included up to $150,000, plus a 10% contingency of $15,000, for structural repairs identified under JC Wagner and Associates, Inc.
As remediation and roof replacement activities progressed, structural repairs were identified that required immediate attention to maintain project progress and prevent further delays. A-1 Remediation Service was responsible for performing the necessary structural repairs rather than JC Wagner and Associates, Inc. Due to the urgency of the work, staff proceeded with the repairs to avoid delays to the ongoing roof replacement project.
Staff is requesting City Council ratification of the reallocation of the previously approved up to $150,000, plus a 10% contingency of $15,000, authorization from JC Wagner and Associates, Inc. to A-1 Remediation Service and approval of an amendment to A-1's existing agreement to reflect the structural repairs.
This action will align the contractual authorization with the work performed and support continued improvements to the Qualex Building for its future use as the City's Navigation Center.
Fiscal Impact:
There is no additional fiscal impact associated with this action. The requested amendment utilizes up to $150,000, plus a 10% contingency of $15,000 previously approved by City Council on August 18, 2026, for structural repairs.
Sufficient funding is included in the Navigation Center Fund (Fund 126), Capital Improvement Project CIP 24001.
