title

Adopt a resolution accepting a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (CA OTS) Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.) approving an agreement with CA OTS in the amount is $125,000 for Federal Fiscal Year 2025 (October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2025); appropriate $125,000 to Police Grants (Fund 150) revenue and expenditure accounts; and authorize the Police Chief to sign said agreement.

body

Background:

Manteca Police Department will use grant funds to increase criminal enforcement and education of driving under the influence (DUI) laws and increase traffic enforcement operations for unsafe driving commonly associated with injury and fatal collisions. The grant funding will cover Police overtime expenses for DUI checkpoints, DUI saturation patrols, traffic enforcement operations, along with training and supplies to assist with traffic safety.

Fiscal Impact:

Receipt of funding for this grant will be on a reimbursement basis per federal fiscal quarter. Therefore, staff recommends appropriating $125,000 to both revenue and expenditure account lines in Police Grants (Fund 150).
