Background:
The City's budget includes 13 Administrative Assistants across all City Departments. Incumbents in these job classifications are responsible for varying duties to support their respective departments. It has been several years since the City updated these job classifications. In particular, Human Resources met with the TSS bargaining unit regarding responsibilities that have been assigned from Finance to the Administrative Assistants over the past several years; these duties were partly a result of audit findings to ensure proper separation of duties for certain tasks, or an effort to increase efficiencies at the City.

The proposed job specifications for your approval now include memorialization of current tasks and duties including but not limited to the Finance-related duties, accounts payable and receivable items. Human Resources also reviewed the job requirements at comparative agencies and has verified that the updates to the City of Manteca Administrative Assistant class series are appropriate.

To ensure internal equity with regards to compensation for employees that are performing similar duties, the following salary increases are proposed to the TSS salary matrix:
