Background:
Beginning in February 2025, City representatives and Local 1874 Fire Unit representatives began meeting and conferring on a successor memorandum of understanding (MOU), as the current MOU was set to expire on June 30, 2025. City and Fire Unit representatives held ten (10) meetings regarding a successor MOU and reached agreement on a one-year MOU term, effective July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. On September 2, 2025, the City was notified by Local 1874 that the Fire Unit ratified the MOU.

Below is a summary of the updated terms of the successor MOU:

Term:
July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026.

Salary:
3% salary increase effective September 1, 2025.

Leaves/Time Off Provisions:
* Vacation/CTO- Increased one additional person to be approved for time off at any given day.
* Wellness Leave - increase to one additional person to be approved for wellness leave; added language that wellness used in lieu of sick leave for new hires does not count towards maximum number of people allowed off.
* Bereavement Leave clean up language.
* Clean up language regarding sick leave utilization and disability leave.
* Elimination of obsolete sworn safety worker leave.

MOU Clean Up Language:
* Eliminate language referencing a bi-weekly payroll, as the City is on a semi-monthly payroll schedule.
* FLSA and work period clarification language.
* Other incidental MOU language clean up.
