Subject:
Proclamation proclaiming April 24, 2025 as Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Recommendation:

body
Background:
In Hebrew, Holocaust Remembrance Day is called Yom Hashoah. When the actual date of Yom Hashoah falls on a Friday, the state of Israel observes Yom Hashoah on the preceding Thursday. When it falls on a Sunday, Yom Hashoah is observed on the following Monday. In the United States, Days of Remembrance runs from the Sunday before Yom Hashoah through the following Sunday. On Holocaust remembrance day we remember the 6 Million Jews murdered 80 years ago. Sometimes the numbers are the simplest way to tell the story. Today there are 15.8 Million Jews worldwide, a number still lower than the Jewish population in 1939. If the Holocaust had not happened, today the population would be between 25 and 32 Million.
Rabbi Jason Gwasdoff to accept proclamation.
