Background:
Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is one of the most common, life-threatening genetic diseases, affecting an estimated 600,000 Americans and 12.4 million people worldwide. PKD causes numerous fluid-filled cysts to grow in the kidneys, leading to kidney failure, and often results in the need for dialysis or kidney transplantation there is currently no cure for PKD, and research is critical to developing treatments to improve the lives of those affected by this disease. raising public awareness about PKD is essential to support research efforts, improve patient outcomes, and ultimately find a cure.
Stephanie Montalvo from the Polycystic Kidney Foundation will be accepting the proclamation.
