Recommendation:
title
It is recommended that the City Council interview and appoint one applicant to the Youth Advisory Commission to fill one alternate member position with a term beginning immediately and ending August 31, 2027, and create an eligibility list.
body
Background:
COMPOSITION OF THE COMMISSION: The Manteca Youth Advisory Commission (YAC) consists of twelve members and two alternate members. All members must be high school students (grades 9 through 12) currently enrolled in school and must have a Manteca residence address. The Commission was created for the purpose of providing a youthful viewpoint on a multitude of community affairs. The Commission’s advice to the Mayor, City Council, and City Recreation Department Staff is advisory in nature.
The City Clerk’s Office received two applications. Staff recommends that the City Council appoint one applicant as an alternate, completing the Youth Advisory Commission’s membership. Staff also recommends placing the other applicant on an eligibility list maintained by the YAC liaison to fill future vacancies if a member leaves before their term ends, helping keep the commission fully staffed.
APPLICATIONS RECEIVED: We received two qualified applications from the following individuals:
• Aagam Nanda
• Abhimanyu Nair
Should a regular member position become vacant the first appointed alternate will automatically fill the regular member position. The member placed on the eligibility list will automatically be appointed to fill the alternate position.
Fiscal Impact:
None
