Background:
The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD), through its Public Benefit Grant Program, is accepting applications for requests up to $100,000 ($20,000 maximum per vehicle, up to five vehicles) for the purchase of new alternative fuel vehicles. The purpose of this program is to fund the purchase of new electric, plug-in hybrid, or alternative fuel vehicles for public agencies to promote clean air alternative-fuel technologies and the use of low or zero emission vehicles in public fleets.

Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the submittal of applications for SJVAPCD's reimbursable grants for alternative fuel vehicles and authorize the City Manager or their designee to execute applications and all associated documents.

Fiscal Impact:
There is no current fiscal impact associated with the recommendation to submit grant application to San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD) through their Public Benefit Grant Program.

The submission of a grant application to the SJVAPCD may result in the grant award for a maximum amount of $100,000 to be used towards the purchase of up to five alternative fuel vehicles for the Public Works Department.
