Background:

Police Week is recognized nationally from May 11-16, 2026. As frontline workers, our police department have taken on a very important role to protect and serve our community, putting themselves in potentially dangerous situations every day, to protect the welfare of Manteca.

National Police Week began in 1962 when President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation designating May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as National Police Week. Since then, this annual event has grown to encompass numerous activities and observances to honor the brave men and women in law enforcement.

The City of Manteca Police Department will be present to accept the Proclamation.
