body

Background:

The Manteca Police Department will use the grant funds to increase criminal enforcement and education of driving under the influence (DUI) laws and increase traffic enforcement efforts for unsafe driving commonly associated with injury and fatal collisions. The grant funding will cover the expense of eight (8) DUI Saturation Patrols to help combat impaired driving. Additional funding awarded in the grant will allow for the purchase of two (2) emergency outfitted traffic enforcement SUV’s, one (1) emergency outfitted traffic enforcement truck, two (2) emergency outfitted traffic enforcement motorcycles and funding for five (5) officers to attend the California Narcotics Officers Association Annual Symposium and Conference.

Fiscal Impact:

Staff recommends accepting the California Highway Patrol Cannabis Tax Fund Grant in the amount of $467,783.47. Receipt of funding for this grant will be on a reimbursement basis. Therefore, staff recommends appropriating $467,784 in the Police Grants Fund (Fund 150).
