Background:
The City of Manteca applied to participate in the National Fitness Campaign (NFC) as part of its 2026 initiative to install and activate outdoor fitness courts in communities nationwide. The City has been selected to receive a $35,000 National Fitness Campaign award to support the development of a publicly accessible outdoor fitness court at Woodward Community Park.

The National Fitness Campaign operates as a public-private partnership, where the awarded amount is applied as a discount toward the purchase of fitness equipment rather than distributed as direct funding to the City. As a result, the City will not receive or recognize grant revenue; instead, the award reduces the overall project cost.

The program is designed to expand access to high-quality outdoor fitness infrastructure and promote health and wellness for residents of all ages and abilities. Participation allows the City to join a national network of communities committed to improving public health through accessible and inclusive exercise opportunities.
