Subject: |
California Highway Patrol, Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program |
Recommendation:
title
Adopt a resolution accepting a grant from the California Highway Patrol Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program (CTFGP) in the amount of $71,058.48 for Fiscal Year 2026-27; appropriating funds as noted in the fiscal impact section and authorizing the Chief of Police to take all necessary steps to effectuate the agreement, including any extensions or amendments.
body
Background:
Manteca Police Department will use the grant funds to increase criminal enforcement and education of driving under the influence (DUI) laws and increase traffic enforcement efforts for unsafe driving commonly associated with injury and fatal collisions. The grant funding will cover the expense of DUI Saturation Patrols to help combat impaired driving. Additional funding awarded in the grant will allow for officers to attend the California Narcotics Officers Association 62nd Annual Training Institute.
Fiscal Impact:
Staff recommends accepting the California Highway Patrol Cannabis Tax Fund Grant in the amount of $71,058.48. Receipt of funding for this grant will be on a reimbursement basis. Therefore, staff recommends appropriating $71,059 in the FY2026-2027 Police Grants Fund (Fund 150) revenue and expenditure lines.
