Background:
The City of Manteca is recognizing September 2026, as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month to raise awareness of the impact childhood cancer has on local families and communities. The proclamation highlights key facts about pediatric cancer, including its status as the leading cause of death by disease among children and the limited federal funding dedicated to pediatric cancer research. It also acknowledges the important role parents and caregivers play in supporting and advocating for their children throughout treatment.
Representatives Samantha Everson and Angela Crawford with the Jammers Strong Foundation will attend to accept the proclamation.
