title

Adopt a resolution approving a budget appropriation in the amount of $15,000 from the Capital Facility Reserves Fund, as outlined in the fiscal impact section, to fund a service agreement with Miller-Pezzoni & Associates, Inc. to design a generator connection for the Senior Center.

body

Background:

The Public Works Department is preparing to modify the Senior Center’s electrical service to be able to be connected to a portable generator in case of an extended power outage.  The Senior Center has a large electrical service, adding this generator point of connection requires a building permit and needs to be designed by an electrical engineer.  Staff received a proposal from Miller-Pezzoni & Associates, Inc. for $9,800 to design the generator point of connection.  The potential exists for additional design work, due to some unknowns in the existing wiring, therefore Staff is asking for $15,000 to be appropriated to cover any additional work.  Since the professional services agreement is less than $75,000, it can be approved by the City Manager.

Fiscal Impact:

Staff recommends appropriating $15,000 from the Capital Facility Reserves Fund to the General Fund Recreation, Senior Services Professional Services Account (No. 100.20.20.310.6000.01) to cover the cost of the agreement and the potential for additional design work.
