Background:
At the direction of the City Council, the Police Department was asked to provide a presentation regarding traffic safety and collisions; specifically fatal traffic collisions within our city. This presentation will include the following:
• Historical and current traffic collision statistics
• Historical and current enforcement efforts, including citations issued
• Strategies moving forward to address traffic safety concerns within our growing community
If the Council chooses to add additional traffic officers in addition to our existing staff, the cost would be approximately $188,000 per officer which includes personal protective equipment and motorcycle.
Fiscal Impact:
This is an informational item. Should direction be given to hire additional officers, staff will bring back an item at a future meeting with the fiscal impact provided.
