Adopt a resolution continuing the Proclamation of Local Emergency in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

body

Background:

On Sunday, March 15, 2020, the City Manager, acting in the capacity of Director of Emergency Services, ordered and signed the Proclamation of Local Emergency proclaiming the existence of a local emergency.

On April 7, 2020, the City Council adopted Resolution R2020-49, pursuant to Section 2.44.060 of the City of Manteca Municipal Code, ratifying and continuing the Emergency Proclamation. Municipal Code Section 2.44.060 also indicates the City Council shall review, at least every fourteen days until such local emergency is terminated, the need for continuing the local emergency, and shall proclaim the termination of such local emergency at the earliest possible date that conditions warrant. The attached resolution will continue the emergency proclamation through the next regularly scheduled City Council meeting.

Fiscal Impact:

None by this action; however, adoption of this resolution will facilitate the ability for the City to request resources including financial support and reimbursement from the State Office of Emergency Services (OES) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for costs incurred as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
