Background:
The Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) is a federal program that funds transportation-related safety projects including traffic signal and traffic sign improvements for local roadways.

The Federal Highway Administration and Caltrans awarded an HSIP Grant to improve the City's traffic signal and communication systems in the amount of $2,853,000 with a 10% local match requirement.

The project includes upgrading traffic signal cabinets and controllers, installation of radio communication systems, and installation of a fiber backbone system on portions of the project to connect to the existing City Telecommunication server room.

The City entered into an agreement for professional services with TJKM to develop project plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E). The project PS&E, have been completed and are available for review in the Engineering Department. The Engineer's estimate for the project construction is $3,585,000.
